About Antique Tozai

Japanese Antiques, Curated for Contemporary Living

Hello, I'm Wakana, founder of Antique Tozai.

The name Tozai comes from two Japanese characters: (Tou), meaning East, and 西 (Zai), meaning West. The idea behind Antique Tozai is simple: to bring together the beauty of Japanese antiques with contemporary Western interiors.

For many years, I have travelled throughout Japan searching for unique objects with a story to tell. From countryside flea markets and family estates to small antique shops hidden in remote towns, each piece is carefully selected for its character, craftsmanship, and timeless appeal.

“Their marks, patina, and imperfections are not flaws, but traces of history.”

Every object in our collection has lived a life before reaching your home. Some have been used for decades, others for more than a century. Their marks, patina, and imperfections are part of what makes each piece unique.

At Antique Tozai, we believe that beautiful objects shape the spaces we live in. A tea bowl, a scroll, a vase, or a piece of furniture can bring warmth, personality, and a sense of connection to the past.

Our goal is to share a small part of Japan's artistic heritage through carefully curated antiques that can continue their journey in a new home, somewhere else in the world.
